Mobile-phone-features

Many of us buy expensive cell phones with zillions of features, but remain clueless about their functions.

If you are one of those people, then, here’s what you need to know.

Speed dial
A feature that allows you to call your friends and loved ones just by pressing a single key on your phone’s keypad. Most modern day phones support this feature. You can assign any number to a contact you wish to call in a hurry.

To find out if your phone supports speed dial, unlock the keypad and press any numerical key for about 2 seconds (except 0 in most cases). If your phone starts dialing a number present in your phonebook or displays a message indicating ‘Number / Record not found’, it supports speed dialing.

An E-mail Message
The first e-mail message was sent in 1971 by an engineer named Ray Tomlinson. Prior to this, you could only send messages to users on a single machine. Tomlinson’s breakthrough was the ability to send messages to other machines on the Internet, using the @ sign to designate the receiving machine.
An e-mail message has always been nothing more than a simple text message — a piece of text sent to a recipient. In the beginning and even today, e-mail messages tend to be short pieces of text, although the ability to add attachments now makes many e-mail messages quite long.

Censorship-blocked-website

Lot of times certain websites are banned in many countries due to political reasons.

Blocking access to undesirable Web sites through the use of Internet protocol filters has been a common government tactic since commercial Internet access first became available here in 1995. China and Saudi Arabia are believed to extend greater censorship over the net than any other country in the world under the pretext of information control.

Most of the blacklisted sites in Saudi Arabia are either sexually explicit or about religion, women, health, drugs and pop culture. They even block access to websites about bathing suits. So if you want to buy something to swim in, they seem to treat that as if it were pornographic in Saudi Arabia.

In China, webites containing sexually explicit content were among those blocked, but they also included sites on sensitive topics such as Tibet, Taiwan, and dissident activity. China also blocks access to Google News, Typepad and Blogger hosted blogs.

But what if an innocent website is accidentally blocked by your ISP or your government. There are always legitimate reasons to visit these blocked websites. We have listed a few methods to help you access blocked websites in school, college, office or at home.

Approach 1: There are websites Anonymizer who fetch the blocked site/ page from their servers and display it to you.

Pfishing“, sometimes spelled “Phishing“, is a word that’s used to describe a method of identity theft where con men use fake e-mail that looks like it comes from legitimate sources. This e-mail is designed to hoodwink you into giving out personal and financial information.

Once the scammers receive your information they use it to either clone your identity or to empty out your bank accounts and run up your charge cards. Here are some tips on how to avoidbecoming the next victim.

1. Never respond to an e-mail that looks like it came from your bank or any ofyour credit card issuers no matter how official it appears. Phishing scame-mails will tell you that there is some problem with your account and that you have to click on an embedded link to correct that problem. They may threaten to close your account, or report you to the credit bureau, if you do not respond. DON’T DO IT.  Don’t call the telephone number that appears in the email either. Get out one of your old bank or credit card statements and call the number that appears there. Explain what the email says and follow the directions that you receive from the actual employee. Chances are they’ll tell you its a scam.
