Bahraich has many tourist spots :
(1) Dargah Sharief This is one of the most important tourist place of bahraich . 3 Km North of Bahraich city the Dargah of Syyed Salar Masood Gazhi is situated here. It was built by Firoz Shah Tuglak. It is believed that people taking bath in the water of this Majar Sharief become free of all skin diseases. Every year during summer a fair is organised here in which lakhs of people from all over the world participate.
(2) Kartaniya Ghat Alligator Breeding center On the banks of River Gerua Alligator breeding cum research center was devolped. It was established in year 1951 by the Government to protect various extinct species of Alligators & Crocodiles. Various species of Alligators & Crocodiles are send to whole India from here.
You can also have enjoy ride on Elephant in the dense forests out here.
(3) Chittaura Jheel This place is situated at 8Km from Bahraich Gonda Road. A small river called " Teri Nadi " flows from this lake. Ashtwarka Muni , the Guru of Maharaja Janak used to live here in his ashram. The great battle was fought between Maharaja Suheldev & Syyed Masood Gazi near this lake. In which Maharaja Suheldev won. Every year a fair is organised here on Basant Panchami. During the months of August - October immigrating Birds from other parts of the World also come here and increases the tourist importance of the lake.
(4) Kailashpuri Barrage This barrage is situated on the border of Lakhimpur & Bahraich. It is 7 Km South of Bichia station, on Ghaghra river. Sharda Nahar flows towards Lakhimpur & Sarju Nahar flows towards Bahraich from here for irrigation purpose. It is also a very beautiful place to visit.
(5) Temple of Junglee Nath This is a very old temple of lord Shiva. It is situated approx 6 Km from Itaha Road near Gandharva lake. It is a very religious & holy place for the people of " Tharu" tribe.
